I just rediscovered this poem (in Italian) in an Italian copy of Winnie-the-Pooh that I was showing to El Lodgero (our lodger, Simon). I read it out to my darling hubby and translated it, going a liitle bit misty-eyed, because Winnie-the-Pooh is a Dad thing. Then, spookily, I switched on the computer and read about the Second Annual Brigid in Cyberspace Silent poetry reading at both Cara's and Stephanie's blogs. Isn't life odd? So here's my contribution.
I've always loved it, just because it says so much whilst seeming to say so little.
To her
Hand in hand we come
Christopher Robin and I
To lay this book in your lap.
Say you're surprised?
Say you like it?
Say it's just what you wanted?
Because it's yours
Because we love you.
A.A. Milne
